Shopping and being glutened. My two favorite things. Not!

I was glutened last night, so therefore very sick today and am exhausted, so my thoughts are pretty disjointed. Not much different from most days, I suspect.

People have been telling me for months I should get new clothes. I am a cheap bitch, so I couldn't justify buying something that would only fit for a month or two. I know that it makes no sense, but just go with me on this one. So yesterday I decided that if I have to buy new clothes, everyone does. And so the headache began...

Shopping with my boys is a bit like continually banging your head against the wall. I tell my brother that I would gladly take the girlies shopping over the boys, any day. At least the girls know what they want and don't just "I dunno" you the whole time.

So we set out to shop. Turns out? Christian and I got nothing. Christian is too damn tall and I don't like looking like an old woman. Who knew?

After some evaluation - which I should have done before I shopped - I decided that since I am planning to shop before we leave for Germany, I will just buy a few shirts and shop my closet for the rest. When we are in Birmingham next week, we will shop for Christian.

Food-
The eating out of the pantry/freezer was a huge success. I estimate that by using up what we had and not running to the store, we saved $150. Not a bad deal!

The chili, rice dish was a success. I ended up adding more kidney beans, 2 cans of hominy and a can of tomatoes I whizzed through the food processor. Seasoned with cumin, oregano and garlic, they were a nice Mexican inspired meal.

The boys had a friend over last night and since we like him and want him to come back, we decided not to subject him to freezer/pantry experimental cooking. We went out to dinner.

oh no so sorry you got g'ed....hope the effects are short lived....Yes it can be daunting to find "affordable" cute clothes around here-especially finding jeans for us "short people"-I get alot of my jeans from newport news catalog online-my one vice I guess-but there's nothing better than a good pair of good fitting jeans...I can't wait to drop a few sizes where I can get into some of my victoria secret jeans I saved...LOL back when I was thinner and single I used to shop like crazy LOL had jeans in every color-now I know better LOL but I saved them hoping to squeeze back into them one day... ;) and yes shopping for boys older than 6 is hard.....

I just need to remember to eat at home, I think. Since I have figured this gluten free living thing out, every time I have been glutened, it is because I ate somewhere else. On the celiac message boards, they repeat over and over that any time you eat something that you didn't prepare yourself, in your own kitchen, you are putting your health in to someone elses hands. I guess that is true for anyone, but especially scary when food can affect you so much. I don't know how you do it with multiple food allergies!
